About the Toronto Dine 50

The Toronto Dine 50 is a weekly ranking of the Greater Toronto Area's 50 most in-demand restaurants — a snapshot of where Torontonians, critics, and visiting diners actually want to eat this week. It runs every Monday and tracks both the city's long-running institutions (Alo, Edulis, Canoe, Scaramouche) and the newest hot openings (AOK Cafe, Nanyang Kopitiam, 20 Victoria, Bar Prima), so the chart shows how a restaurant's buzz rises and falls over time, not just which spots opened most recently.

How the chart is built

Each Monday we synthesize signals from the city's leading food publications and live social conversation: blogTO, Toronto Life, NOW Magazine, Streets of Toronto, Eater Toronto, the Canada's 100 Best list, the Michelin Guide Ontario, OpenTable's top-100 rankings, and the past week of food posts on Reddit's r/torontofood and r/toronto. Every entry must be cited by at least two distinct sources before it makes the chart — single-mention buzz doesn't qualify.

What you'll find here

The list spans the full Greater Toronto Area — downtown neighbourhoods like King West, Yorkville, Little Italy, Queen West, and Kensington Market alongside Scarborough, Etobicoke, North York, Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham. Categories cover fine dining, omakase, Italian trattorias, Chinese banquet halls, neighbourhood bistros, wine bars, viral pop-ups, slice shops, ramen, Korean BBQ, and dessert spots.

Movement, streaks, and history

Each restaurant's row shows its rank change vs. last week (▲ rising, ▼ falling, NEWfor first appearances). The inline sparkline plots the last seven weeks of the restaurant's position on the chart, so it's easy to see whether a place is in a hot streak, cooling off, or holding steady. Each entry also shows its peak position and total weeks on the chart — "debut week" marks a first appearance.
