Taking over the cavernous former Böehmer space at 93 Ossington Avenue, The Lunch Lady imports the storied culinary lineage of Saigon street food legend Nguyễn Thị Thanh—first introduced to international audiences by Anthony Bourdain—by way of Vancouver's Michelin Bib Gourmand destination. Co-founder Michael Tran and culinary director Benedict Lim teamed up with Solid Design Creative to replicate the rhythm of Vietnamese streetscapes, complete with corrugated gates, hand-painted sidewalk finishes, and a luminous bar. The room stays energetic with full-service dining tables, high-top bar seats, and a semi-private Saigon Supper Room in the rear.

The Lunch Lady Menu & What to Order The kitchen balances street stall traditions with Ontario sourcing and modern execution. Start with the blistered garlic fried noodles and crispy soft shell crab before moving to the rich Wagyu Phở, composed with a 24-hour beef broth, rare zabuton, ox tail, and bone marrow. The centerpiece Bò Lúc Lắc upgrades shaking beef with prime ribeye tossed in a pho-reduction pepper sauce alongside scallion-butter cassava fries. For dessert, the Chè Ba Màu reinvents traditional three-colour sweet soup into a warm pandan cake with coconut gelato, pairing cleanly with a Phở-Spiced Old Fashioned or a pandan-infused Pandoni cocktail.

Know Before You Go Tables can be booked in advance via OpenTable for groups of up to six, with a enforced two-hour seating limit during peak dinner hours. Bar seating accommodates spontaneous walk-ins, though prime Friday and Saturday evenings routinely mean a wait along the Ossington strip. Midday lunch and brunch service is offered Wednesday through Sunday, while dinner runs seven nights a week starting at 5:00 p.m.
