The Japanese A5 striploin at Sonny Can't Dance is the reason to come this far west on King: they walk the raw six-ounce cut to the table so you can see the marbling, then cook it properly. $88. Go on a Wednesday, skip the Everything Bagel onion rings, and don't count on the bathrooms. This is 788 King Street West, the old Pizza Wine Disco room — King streetcar, not a subway stop.
What to order
Start with the A5. They show it raw on purpose. That's how you know the $88 is actually Japanese A5, not a steakhouse adjective. What came back had a proper crust, a pink centre, flaky salt, and fat that had actually rendered. If you only get one plate, this. Ontario Prime tenderloin, striploin, and ribeye are on the menu cheaper ($58 / $64 / $68). We didn't order them.
Cocktails were the other thing that tasted intentional — not a gun pour. The list is $22–24. The Picante Marg (guava, pepperoncini, a chili rim) and the rocks drinks with the big cube were the ones we actually wanted another of.
A complimentary cheese plate showed up: a hard wedge, a yellow cube, Castelvetrano olives, jam, crackers. Eat it. That's the Cheese Boutique habit at the table, not a leftover.
What we would not reorder: the Everything Bagel onion rings ($17). The seasoning is right. They come out greasy, like the fryer wasn't hot enough. Don't build the table around sides.
The dessert cart is the theatre — pecan tart with salted caramel, red velvet, a thick cheesecake. A slice of cheesecake is $20 and we couldn't finish it. Look at the cart. Share something smaller, or skip.
The move
Two people, a Wednesday, A5 plus cocktails. Every paying guest gets one die; a one takes the food bill to $1 (alcohol stays full price). One in six. That's the night it is worth building a bigger table. Shuffleboard is in the room if you want it. Music is good. It was quiet when we went.

Municipal Goods (Paris Texas, Small Talk Jazz) opened this as a nightlife steakhouse, not a hush grill. Culinary director Afrim Pristine dry-ages the Ontario Prime at Cheese Boutique, which is also why a cheese plate appears without you ordering it.
