St. Joseph’s Emergency Department is the west-end 24/7 at 30 The Queensway, Barnicke Wing, ground floor, just inside the Emergency entrance. This is the Unity Health sister to St. Michael’s — a community teaching hospital in Parkdale / Roncesvalles, not a Level 1 trauma centre. St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation describes a dedicated children’s emergency area (the Rainbow Zone) and more than 14,000 child visits a year inside a department that sees more than 100,000 visits annually. Sinai Health’s pediatric-ED list also names St. Joe’s as a nearby hospital that provides care to children. First-timers: use the Emergency entrance on The Queensway, not the main Sunnyside lobby, if you are coming in after hours. This is the west-end general ED when you are in Parkdale, High Park, Swansea, or the Queensway corridor and do not need a downtown trauma bay.
