North York General’s Charlotte & Lewis Steinberg Emergency is at the General site, 4001 Leslie Street, first floor, Leslie just south of Sheppard Avenue East. Official nygh.on.ca/care-service/emergency-care/ posts it open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and calls it among the busiest emergency departments in the GTA. Switchboard is 416-756-6000. A small short-term Emergency parking lot sits at the ED doors (pay-and-display; change machine inside). Sinai Health’s pediatric-ED list names North York General as a hospital that provides care to children. First-timers: this is the north-end general ED for Willowdale, Don Mills, Bayview Village, and the 401/404 corner — not the Finch Reactivation Care Centre and not the Champagne or Consumers outpatient sites. Critically ill patients are treated first; the official page is explicit that wait times for others vary. Bring OHIP. For a life-threatening emergency the hospital’s own instruction is to dial 911.
