Joe Rockhead’s is still Canada’s first indoor climbing gym: 29 Fraser Avenue, Liberty Village, established 1990. Official site joerockheads.com calls it Toronto’s full-service downtown crag — bouldering, auto-belays, top rope, lead, a gear shop, kids’ School of Rock, camps, and parties. Phone (416) 538-7670, climb@joerockheads.com. Posted hours: Monday–Friday 7 a.m.–11 p.m., Saturday–Sunday 9 a.m.–10 p.m. No cash. First-timers: a day pass plus shoe and harness rental gets you a staff orientation on boulders and auto-belays; Top Rope 101 (officially $45, entry and rentals included) unlocks the rope walls. Memberships sit beside day-use. Alex Honnold and Sasha DiGiulian have passed through; the regular floor is still a neighbourhood crag. Climbers under 14 need an adult; waivers for under-18s need a parent. Pay parking on Fraser and at Lamport Stadium.
