Altea Active

Altea Active

Altea Active is less of a gym and more of a massive, 89,000-square-foot social wellness playground that has completely redefined the fitness scene in Liberty Village. Occupying the lower levels of the Novus residential building, this sprawling facility feels like a high-end club rather than a place to just grind out sets. It is known for its sheer scale and "social wellness" philosophy, blending intense physical training with serious recovery and leisure. The vibe is polished and energetic, featuring biophilic design elements like a central tree lounge and fish tank that soften the industrial aesthetic. Whether you are there for the massive cycling studio, the hot yoga space with its own fireplaces, or the 25-metre lap pool, the atmosphere is designed to keep you hanging around long after your workout is done.

For a first-timer, the sheer number of amenities can be overwhelming, so start by booking a tour to get your bearings. You absolutely need to experience the recovery suite, which includes a Himalayan salt lounge, a Polaris ice room, and hydrotherapy pools—it is the best way to decompress after a heavy session. If you are hungry, head to Catalyst Kitchen + Cocktails, the members-only spot on-site; their menu leans into "good-for-you" comfort food, and the cocktails are surprisingly well-crafted for a gym restaurant. The facility also features duckpin bowling, pool tables, and golf simulators, making it a legitimate hangout spot. It is a membership-based club, so expect to pay monthly dues, but the inclusion of two-hour complimentary parking is a massive perk for anyone commuting into the neighbourhood.
