Fat Zhu Noodle Lab is a hyper-focused micro-restaurant in North York created by chef Eddie Yeung, a veteran of the local culinary scene and founder of Wonton Hut. Located just off Yonge Street, the concept strips away conventional restaurant overhead to concentrate entirely on traditional Cantonese noodle craftsmanship. The room features a remarkably intimate setup with only six counter seats and three tables, channeling a nostalgic Hong Kong dai pai dong atmosphere where diners can watch the kitchen preparation firsthand.
First-time visitors will find a tightly curated menu built around precise combinations of handmade springy egg noodles or rice noodles, paired with either plump signature wontons or slow-braised beef brisket. Broth options include a classic clear style or a spicy variant inspired by Typhoon Shelter flavours. While the space accommodates a small group for dine-in service during evening hours, the operation is optimized for a streamlined pickup and takeout experience. Operating hours typically run Tuesday through Saturday, with dine-in service starting later in the evening, making it an ideal spot for a focused, late-night noodle fix.
