Toronto's Biennial of Art is back for its fourth edition, and this time it is thinking about what happens when systems crack.

Things Fall Apart

Titled Things Fall Apart and curated by Allison Glenn, the 2026 Biennial runs Saturday, September 26 through Sunday, December 20 across more than 13 exhibition sites in the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. Artists are commissioned to make new work in dialogue with the city's neighbourhoods, histories, and infrastructure rather than dropping into a single museum white cube.

Glenn's research-driven, site-responsive approach centres practices that treat rupture as generative: reconsidering geographies, archives, and the systems that shape everyday life, then proposing other ways to read the present. Expect walking between venues, not a one-stop afternoon.

How to see it

Start with the official location map for hours and accessibility at each site (torontobiennial.org/location-map). One convenient downtown anchor is the Art Museum at the University of Toronto (University of Toronto Art Centre) on King's College Circle, but the point of the Biennial is the spread.
