The piece
Human rights lawyer and writer Philippe Sands adapts his award-winning book into a performance that asks how people at opposite moral extremes can find solace in the same aria. Metropolitan Opera bass-baritone Laurent Naouri and French soprano Natalie Dessay join Sands' narration, with Guillaume de Chassy on piano across Bach, Rachmaninoff, Leonard Cohen, and more.
Practical
Elgin & Winter Garden Theatres, 189 Yonge St. One night only via festivalofauthors.ca. Pair it with the PEN Canada Graeme Gibson Talk if you are already in a TIFA week mood.
