Scarborough Community Multicultural Festival

Scarborough is globally celebrated for its immense cultural diversity and unbeatable culinary landscape. Over Labour Day weekend, Thomson Memorial Park plays host to the Scarborough Community Multicultural Festival, an open-air celebration dedicated to bringing together the neighbourhood's many communities through live performance, craft traditions, and incredible food.

The two-day festival transforms the park's expansive green lawns into a lively gathering space. Attendees can take in non-stop performances across the weekend, featuring traditional folk dancers, steelpan ensembles, Afro-Caribbean drummers, South Asian classical vocalists, and contemporary local hip-hop and R&B artists.

Global Food & Artisan Market

Food is always the centrepiece in Scarborough, and the festival's vendor row reflects that heritage. Expect stalls serving up jerk chicken, freshly griddled roti, empanadas, street-style noodles, Somali sambusas, and tropical refreshments. Alongside the food offerings, local artisans, community organizations, and craft vendors will be showcasing handmade jewellery, traditional clothing, art prints, and wellness goods.

Family Activities & Getting There

Thomson Memorial Park (1005 Brimley Road) offers plenty of shade, walking paths, and picnic areas, making this an easy and welcoming outing for families with children. There will be dedicated kids' activity zones, face painting, and cultural interactive workshops throughout both afternoons.

The park is accessible via the TTC, with frequent bus connections running from Scarborough Centre Station along Brimley Road and Lawrence Avenue East. Admission to the festival grounds is completely free.
