The Toronto International Film Festival returns for its 51st edition, running September 10–20, 2026. For eleven days every fall, TIFF turns downtown Toronto into the biggest public film festival in the world — hundreds of features and shorts, gala premieres, industry deals, and enough celebrity sightings to keep King Street buzzing.

What to Expect

TIFF programmes span everything from awards-season heavyweights making their world premieres to bold international discoveries and documentaries. The Gala and Special Presentations line-up brings the star power and the red carpets, while sidebars like Midnight Madness, Wavelengths, and Discovery reward the more adventurous. New this year, TIFF: The Market — the festival's inaugural film market — runs September 10–16.

Where It Happens

The festival is anchored at TIFF Lightbox (350 King Street West), with screenings and events across downtown venues including Roy Thomson Hall, the Princess of Wales Theatre, and the Scotiabank Theatre. The King Street West stretch through the Entertainment District becomes a festival hub for the duration.

Tickets

Individual tickets, packages, and passes are available through TIFF. Single screenings go fast for the high-profile galas, so members and pass-holders get first crack — plan ahead if there's a premiere you can't miss. Full schedule and ticketing at tiff.net.

Getting There

Take Line 1 to St. Andrew Station or the 504 King streetcar — the core venues are all within a short walk of each other. Driving and parking downtown during the festival is a headache; transit is the move.
