Opening Reception: Richard Avedon Immortal at The Image Centre

The Image Centre (TIC) on Gould Street is launching its highly anticipated fall exhibition season with a free public reception featuring late-night gallery access, artist and curator conversations, light refreshments, and a cash bar.

The Exhibitions The anchor exhibition, *Richard Avedon Immortal: Portraits of Aging, 1951–2004*, brings together nearly 100 striking portraits that confront the taboo of aging through Avedon's uncompromising lens. Visitors can view iconic subjects ranging from Toni Morrison and Duke Ellington to Patti Smith and the Dalai Lama.

Alongside Avedon, TIC presents *Tanya Marcuse: Portent*, a multichannel video exploration of natural disasters and ecological anxiety, and *Madison Chow: Overflow*, an innovative, camera-less photographic series where water acts as a direct collaborator on the image.

Practical Details The opening reception runs from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Located right on Ryerson's campus at 33 Gould St, The Image Centre is easily accessible from Yonge-Dundas Square and the subway. Be sure to have your Eventbrite registration ready at the door.
