If you think you know street dance, think again. *HEARTBEATS: Signature Programme 2* arrives at the Bluma Appel Theatre in the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, offering an electrifying showcase where street dance becomes a powerful vehicle for narrative. Co-curated by Kwasi Obeng-Adjei and Robert Binet, this programme features breathtaking performances by the Liam Francis Dance Company, Kwasi Obeng-Adjai & Ambrose Tjark, and Compagnie KH.
What to Expect
Spanning influences from African traditions, contemporary dance, and cinematic tropes (including an action-packed dance heist), international artists from Canada, Nigeria, the UK, and France hit the stage. The choreographies dive headfirst into universal human quests: finding intimacy and belonging, fighting for fairness, and experiencing the pure freedom of movement. Expect high energy, incredible athleticism, and moments of genuine humour and emotional depth. *(Note: This production features the use of theatrical haze.)*
