When the regular crowds clear out and the lights dim, Canada’s largest museum takes on an entirely different atmosphere. The Haunted ROM Tour invites curious visitors and ghost-story enthusiasts to wander through centuries of artifacts and architectural quirks, uncovering the supernatural lore and historic legends tied to Queen's Park.
Legends in the Galleries
From whispers surrounding the original 1914 heritage wing to historical curiosities within the vast collections of antiquity, natural history, and world cultures, the tour weaves together verified architectural lore with spooky folklore that museum staff and night guards have shared across generations. While the exhibits showcase genuine treasures of art and archaeology, this walk focuses on the curious phenomena, unexplained sounds, and spectral sightings rumoured to linger among the cases.
Tour Details and Practical Info
Running throughout the Halloween season from early October through November 1, the guided walk is an add-on experience to museum entry. Spots are limited to keep group sizes manageable and maintain the atmospheric tension as you traverse dimly lit corridors. Comfortable footwear is recommended, as the tour moves across multiple floors of the expansive complex.
Getting There & Neighbourhood Plans
The ROM sits right at Museum Station on Line 1 (Yonge-University), with easy access via Bay and St. George stations as well. Before or after your haunted stroll, head north into Yorkville or south towards the University of Toronto campus to warm up over hot drinks or dinner along Bloor Street West.
