Essence of the Garden: Plein Air Art Exhibition and Sale

Saturday, October 3, 2026 – Sunday, October 18, 2026
10:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Toronto Botanical Garden
Toronto Botanical Garden and Edwards Gardens host Essence of the Garden, a curated plein air exhibition and sale running October 3–18, 2026. Forty-six local artists show more than 100 works painted on site — light, movement, and the ravine landscape rendered in oils, watercolours, and mixed media.
Admission to the exhibition is free. Artist-led workshops and drop-in programming sit alongside the hang, so you can watch painters work or try a short session yourself. The show deliberately coincides with Toronto's Ravine Days, which makes it an easy double: walk the valley paths, then duck into the gallery rooms for the finished canvases.
The gardens are at 777 Lawrence Avenue East (Lawrence East / Don Mills area). TTC: Lawrence station then eastbound bus, or drive and use the Edwards Gardens parking lots — weekends get busy in peak colour season. Bring a reusable bag if you plan to buy; many pieces are priced for first-time collectors.
Practical tip: weekday mornings are calmer for looking closely. If you only have one afternoon, pair this with the Fall Ravine Festival programming elsewhere on the grounds the first weekend.
