Building Black AMORPHIA: Spiritual Starships marks the latest multidisciplinary triumph by Ghanaian-Canadian artist Ekow Nimako, known worldwide for his breathtaking, intricate LEGO® sculptures. Running at the Harbourfront Centre through the end of the year, this 16-piece series reimagines traditional West African mask-making, geometric forms, and spiritual symbolism as futuristic biotechnological ancestral spacecrafts.

Nimako's works bridge ancient heritage and far-flung science fiction, challenging the Eurocentric tropes often dominating speculative worldbuilding. Using standard and unconventional LEGO® elements, each piece captures striking emotion, movement, and mood within a mounted visage, blurring the line between antiquity and deep-space exploration.
