Experience a powerful evening of documentary cinema as the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema screens 'An American Doctor'. Winner of the Hot Docs Audience Award, this poignant feature follows three US doctors—Palestinian, Jewish, and Zoroastrian—as they navigate the unimaginable chaos of emergency medicine inside besieged hospitals in Gaza.

Directed by Poh Si Teng and produced by Vivian Belik, the film refuses to look away from the harsh realities of a devastated healthcare system. Beyond frontline medical care, the documentary explores the heavy intersection of medicine, politics, and the moral responsibilities of healthcare workers caught in active conflict zones.

What to Expect Screened in English, Arabic, and Hebrew with English subtitles, the film runs for roughly two hours. The screening takes place at the historic Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema located at 506 Bloor Street West in Old Toronto—right in the heart of the Annex neighbourhood.

Making a Night of It The Annex is packed with fantastic pre- or post-show options. Grab a quick bite at one of the many casual eateries along Bloor Street, or settle in for a post-screening debrief over coffee or drinks at a nearby café. Tickets range from free for select members up to $15 for general admission, making this an accessible and deeply moving cultural outing in Toronto.
