A Summer's Tale

Step into the French seaside this August as the Hot Docs Cinema (506 Bloor St W) screens Eric Rohmer’s brilliant 1996 feature, *A Summer's Tale*. Widely considered the most personal entry in his acclaimed *Tales of the Four Seasons* cycle, the film follows the indecisive amateur musician Gaspard to the picturesque coast of Brittany, where he finds himself simultaneously romancing three different women.

What to Expect Expect a masterclass in witty dialogue, beautifully lensed coastal vistas, and Rohmer’s signature psychological observations on youth, romantic fickleness, and modern indecision. The film is presented in French with English subtitles, featuring an incredible young cast including Melvil Poupard and Amanda Langlet.
