Length

Surface

Type

Loop

A chain of 15 small islands in Toronto Harbour offering 8 kilometres of car-free walking and cycling paths with unobstructed skyline views. The island trails connect beaches, gardens, a century-old amusement park, and one of the best urban vantage points in North America — looking back at downtown Toronto across the harbour.

Very Toronto Tips

Ward's Island is the quieter, more interesting end — the tiny cottage community feels like a different century. Walk the boardwalk at sunset for the best skyline photo you'll ever take. The Hanlan's Point clothing-optional beach is at the far west end if that's your thing.

Seasonal Notes

Best: Summer

Ferry runs year-round but reduced winter schedule. Centre Island attractions open May-September. Ward's Island ferry is the best option in winter. Can be extremely crowded on summer weekends — go early or on weekdays.
