Colonel Samuel Smith Park

Toronto·New Toronto·1-2 hours

Check before you go

Waterfront paths are exposed to wind and ice in winter. The skating trail is seasonal; check the City page for current facility status.

Surface

Mixed

Type

Loop

A waterfront network of paved and granular paths around a wooded peninsula, wetlands, beaches, and Lake Ontario lookouts. One of Toronto's best birding walks, it is also an easy four-season outing with plenty of ways to shorten or extend the route.

Very Toronto Tips

Walk the outer shoreline rather than stopping at the first lookout. The park feels progressively wilder toward the lake, and migration days can be extraordinary even without serious birding gear.
