Yumi Japanese Restaurant

What is Yumi Japanese Restaurant? Occupying a storefront at 2384 Bloor Street West just steps from Jane subway station, Yumi Japanese Restaurant is a long-standing Bloor West Village staple for unpretentious, traditional Japanese dining. The dining room is straightforward and comfortable, outfitted with classic wooden tables, cushioned booth seating, and a modest sushi bar where chefs work steadily on both dine-in and takeout orders. It delivers an unfussy, welcoming neighbourhood atmosphere where local families and regulars have gathered for everyday maki and bento meals for years.

Yumi Japanese Restaurant Menu & What to Order The extensive menu focuses on reliable nigiri, generously portioned lunchtime bento boxes, and comforting hot kitchen mains. Standouts include the chirashi sushi loaded with thick-cut raw fish over seasoned rice, the consistently crisp Dynamite Roll, and lunchtime bento boxes packed with shrimp tempura, salad, miso, and teriyaki salmon. For sharing, the Momiji sushi combination and the generous Love Boat deliver exceptional value, while vegetarians have dependable options in vegetable tempura, agedashi tofu, and varied avocado maki.

Know Before You Go Reservations can be phoned in directly, but walk-ins are usually seated promptly outside of peak Friday and Saturday dinner rushes. The restaurant sits a two-minute walk west of Jane subway station, with metered street parking and municipal Green P lots accessible nearby on Bloor and along side streets. Lunch specials run midday Monday through Saturday, with dinner service beginning in the late afternoon on Sundays.
