Toronto General’s Emergency Department is in the R. Fraser Elliott Building, ground floor, at 190 Elizabeth Street — the always-open door at Elizabeth and Gerrard. The hospital mailing address is 200 Elizabeth Street. Official uhn.ca/OurHospitals/TGH and Toronto Central Healthline (updated February 27, 2026) list the ED phone as 416-340-3946, hours daily 24 hours. Other TGH doors on University, Elizabeth, and Gerrard lock overnight (8 p.m.–6 a.m.); after hours use the ED entrance or the intercom. This is UHN’s flagship medical campus — cardiac surgery, multi-organ transplant, hepatobiliary and respirology — not one of Toronto’s two adult Level 1 trauma centres. First-timers: go to Elizabeth and Gerrard, not the University Avenue ceremonial doors. Bring OHIP. For life-threatening trauma, paramedics route to Sunnybrook or St. Michael’s; TGH is the medical-specialty front door on Hospital Row.
