Tucked behind a heavy curtain toward the back of Tono by Akira Back inside the W Toronto, TOKI Listening Bar is an intimate, Tokyo-inspired lounge modeled after mid-century jazz kissas. Operating on the philosophy of its namesake—the Japanese word for time—the space trades conventional city noise for analog vinyl tracks played on a high-fidelity sound system. Designed with moody lighting, curved ceilings for optimized acoustics, and low velvet couches, the room immerses guests in a music-first environment right in the heart of Yorkville.
The beverage program centers around a specialized Suntory Toki machine that produces ultra-cold, precise carbonated highballs, complemented by a focused cocktail list featuring expressions like the Green Samurai and umami-forward riffs. Late-night bites skew toward flavour-forward, snackable sharing plates designed to accompany the drinks. Operating Thursday through Sunday from 6 p.m. until late, the lounge welcomes walk-ins though reservations via OpenTable are strongly encouraged for those looking to secure a spot in the compact room.
