What is Shinji? Located at 333 Bay Street at the base of the Bay Adelaide Centre West Tower, Shinji is Harlo Hospitality's refined Japanese steakhouse in the Financial District. Helmed by Executive Chef and Partner Jia Zou—an alumnus of Miku and Grey Gardens—the kitchen centers around live-fire robata grilling, direct-sourced Japanese wagyu, and pristine raw bar cuts. Designed by Toronto studio Odami, the moody interior skips traditional tropes in favour of custom indigo-limewashed walls inspired by raw denim, Ceppo di Gré terrazzo surfaces, a central robata counter, and an open sushi bar.

Shinji Menu & What to Order Direct-sourced A3 to A5 Japanese wagyu cuts from Himeji, Miyazaki, and Hyogo Prefecture (true Kobe beef) anchor the menu alongside prime Canadian cuts and sushi flown in multiple times weekly. Must-order signatures include the Shinji Surf and Turf—yakiniku-glazed wagyu paired with tender black cod and crispy leeks—along with the rich Wagyu Sukiyaki, crusty Wagyu Kamameshi, and a refreshing matcha soba noodle salad. Drinks skew toward high-roller magnums, cold-draft Japanese whisky highballs, curated sakes, and shiso-laced cocktails that cut through the marbling of the beef.

Shinji runs lunch and dinner service Monday through Friday, dinner only on Saturdays, and is closed on Sundays.
