What is Shay Ristorante? At 1055 Yonge Street in Rosedale—just down from Terroni and a short walk from Summerhill Station—Shay Ristorante is chef Justin Friedlich's first solo room after nearly a decade as chef de cuisine at Buca Yorkville. Named for his daughter, the Italian restaurant and wine bar joins Seahorse and Manita on the Yonge corridor's stylish rebound. Creative director Rayana Dilawri shaped a palatial, rural-Italy-inspired room; Adam Halpern of Halpern Wine Enterprises is on the wine program. This is a chef-driven debut, not a chain expansion.

Shay Menu & What to Order Handmade pasta is the centre of the menu—shaped in-house daily with seasonal ingredients. Pre-open coverage highlights reimagined Italian staples such as supplì topped with tuna crudo (an Italian take on tuna crispy rice) and decadent pasta plates; expect a carefully curated wine list with sommelier guidance by the glass or bottle.
