Rose’s Pantry is a specialized market and takeout counter operating out of an adjacent space on Robert Street connected to the Harbord Village restaurant Maven. Created by chef-owner Shauna Godfrey and named after her two grandmothers, the shop channels an old-world European épicerie sensibility with custom wood millwork, blending the atmosphere of a Hudson Valley market with a traditional neighborhood grocer. The concept stems from Godfrey's long-held dream of running a prepared-foods boutique inspired by classic comfort food traditions, featuring a curated selection of grab-and-go meals, pantry staples, and baked goods.
Visitors to the counter can expect an array of rotating items, including fresh breads and sweets, fancy tinned goods, nostalgic candies, and seasonal soft-serve ice cream. Early menu highlights feature specialty sandwiches built on Maven's signature challah, such as a dilly egg salad with soft- and hard-boiled eggs or a smoked sprat and albacore tuna salad brightened with dill-infused rice vinegar. Shoppers will also find prepared salads like pesto farfalle alongside house-made staples including everything-bagel cashews and house coleslaw. It serves as a straightforward, high-quality stop for locals seeking chef-prepared meals to heat and enjoy at home.
