Harbord Village has a new anchor in Parquet, a bistro that feels like it’s been part of the street corner for years. Founded by law school friends Daniel Bernstein and Matt Cohen, the space leans into a polished, lived-in aesthetic with marble, wood, and leather banquettes that don’t feel overly precious. Chef Jeremy Dennis runs the kitchen, pushing a menu that leans on French foundations but isn't afraid to pull in Asian or Latin influences when the local ingredients call for it. It’s the kind of room that manages to feel cosmopolitan without being stuffy, fitting right into the neighbourhood’s low-key, academic vibe.

Start with the steak frites or the cassoulet if you’re looking for the classics, but keep an eye on the seasonal plates that rotate based on what’s available. Sommelier Lexi Wolkowski has put together a wine list that actually rewards a bit of curiosity, and the cocktail program is worth the seat at the bar. The dining room is intimate—only 50 seats—so book ahead if you’re planning a full dinner. If you’re just looking for a drink and a quick bite, the bar is set up for walk-ins, and the service is sharp enough to keep the flow moving without hovering.
