Mom's Recipes

Junction of Yorkville, Annex, and Rosedale
April 1, 2026
Mom's Recipes is a Ukrainian restaurant and cafe founded by Toronto-based baker Victoria Olshana. Located at 136 Avenue Rd., the space is situated at the junction of Yorkville, the Annex, and Rosedale, positioned between Osteria Giulia and Adrak. The restaurant serves as a tribute to homestyle cooking, with a menu directly inspired by recipes passed down from Olshana’s mother, who has over 35 years of professional culinary experience. The interior is designed as a chic, story-driven space that aims to evoke a sense of warmth and connection for its guests.
For a first visit, expect a nostalgic menu featuring both breakfast and lunch options. Highlights include house-baked sour cherry or braised cabbage pirizhki, warming bowls of traditional Ukrainian borscht served with garlic pampushky or sourdough, and a lobster brioche roll. Other menu items include poached eggs, premium smoked salmon plates, and shakshuka. The restaurant has already gained attention for its high-profile visitors, including Canadian literary icon Margaret Atwood. While the atmosphere is intended to be welcoming and homey, the restaurant is a new addition to the area and may experience varying crowd levels as it gains popularity.
