Janchenkos Bakery

What is Janchenkos Bakery? Perched on Bloor Street West, Janchenkos Bakery is a long-standing fixture in Bloor West Village, serving as a bastion of traditional Eastern European baking. This take-out establishment specializes in artisanal pastries, hearty comfort foods, and a robust selection of Ukrainian staples, all crafted with a homemade ethos. The atmosphere is that of a bustling neighbourhood bakery, inviting patrons to grab and go with no indoor seating available.

Janchenkos Bakery Menu & What to Order The menu at Janchenkos spans from sweet to savoury, with the Ponchiki—donuts filled with plum jam, raspberry, or vanilla custard—being an absolute must-try. Their Pierogies, particularly the potato and cheddar variation, are a consistent crowd-pleaser, as are the substantial Schnitzel plates, available with pork or chicken. Don't overlook the impressive Napoleon Torte or the dense, flavourful Medovik Torte for dessert, and take home some Mak Poppyseed Roll or artisanal Paska. For a savoury bite, the Potato Pancake With Smoked Salmon offers a delightful contrast of textures and flavours.
