Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy

March 18, 2026
The Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy is an immersive, gothic-themed pop-up experience hosted at The Parkdale Hall in Toronto. This theatrical event brings four of the author’s most famous works—The Tell-Tale Heart, The Raven, The Masque of the Red Death, and The Black Cat—off the page and onto the stage. Throughout the 75 to 90-minute session, attendees are guided by "Poe Historians" who reimagine these dark tales with dramatic flair, creating a brooding atmosphere that leans into the macabre legacy of the Master of the Macabre.
For a first visit, expect a curated tasting menu where each of the four stories is paired with a themed, Victorian-inspired cocktail crafted by a lead mixologist. Examples of these libations include the blueberry vodka-based Pale Blue Eye and the black-and-gold Nevermore. This is a 19+ event, and guests are encouraged to book tickets in advance as capacity is limited and sessions often sell out. While the experience is centered on spirits, non-alcoholic mocktail options are available upon request. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and the environment is designed to be a dramatic, dark sanctuary, making it a distinct choice for those seeking an atmospheric night out.
