Casamiento

What is Casamiento? Perched along the Dupont strip near Shaw Street in Dovercourt Village, Casamiento is chef René Rodriguez’s casual homage to Salvadoran street food. After making waves with a tiny Kensington Market food stall, Rodriguez expanded into this relaxed, no-frills storefront outfitted with simple table seating and takeout counter service. It is an unpretentious neighbourhood staple where the focus remains squarely on made-to-order comfort food made with freshly griddled corn masa.

Casamiento Menu & What to Order Everything hinges on a focused, tight lineup of pupusas, quesadillas, and tacos. The signature pork revuelta pupusa—packed with slow-roasted pork, refried beans, and molten cheese—is essential eating alongside a generous mound of tangy, house-fermented curtido slaw. Plant-based eaters can lean on the vegan bean and cheese pupusas or the deeply seasoned braised eggplant tacos, while the golden beef quesadillas showcase a serious cheese pull. Wash everything down with a classic Mexican Jarrito soda or a cold cerveza.

Know Before You Go Casamiento operates strictly on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis with brisk takeout turnover. Space is cozy and pupusas are cooked fresh to order, meaning lunch and weekend dinner rushes can bring brief waits. Catch the 126 Christie or 26 Dupont bus for the easiest transit route, as street parking along Dupont fills up fast.
