Caldense Bakery

What is Caldense Bakery? Located on Dundas Street West near Jane Street, this outpost of Caldense Bakery brings decades of Portuguese baking pedigree to the west end. The space is a brightly lit, no-nonsense neighbourhood staple dominated by expansive display cases packed with golden pastries, rustic loaves, and hot savoury fritters. Casual tables provide room for patrons catching up over morning coffee or grabbing a quick midday bite.

Caldense Bakery Menu & What to Order The essential order begins with the bakery's famous pastel de nata, delivering caramelized egg custard encased in layers of flaky, crackling pastry. For savoury appetites, the pressed tosta mista on a fresh paposeco roll and the tender pork bifana provide satisfying comfort, alongside crisp shrimp patties and salt cod croquettes. Pair anything you order with an espresso or a tall galão, and don't skip taking home a sugar-dusted bola de Berlim or a crusty loaf of Portuguese bread.

Know Before You Go This is a casual walk-in counter operation where queues form quickly on weekend mornings, though the experienced counter staff keep service moving swiftly.
