Bar Butcher occupies the former Miller’s Tavern space at 31 Bay Street, bringing an accessible, relaxed steakhouse concept to Toronto's Financial District. Conceived by the team behind upscale venues like The Butcher Chef and Oliver’s Steakhouse, the restaurant is led operationally by co-owner Michael Dabic alongside culinary director Derek Von Raesfeld and head chef Michael Pallister. The concept combines elements of classic French bistros and New York bars, offering warm, contemporary interiors designed for casual lunches, pre-game meals near the Scotiabank Arena, or relaxed evening gatherings.
First-time visitors can expect a concise menu focusing on prime cuts of steak alongside approachable comfort items like duck confit, schnitzel, sandwiches, and house-made specialties at lower price points than traditional high-end steakhouses. The beverage program features an extensive selection of wine, spirits, draft beer, and curated cocktails. Given its proximity to major downtown entertainment hubs and the core business center, reservations are recommended for peak dining hours and event nights.
