AYLA Upstairs

AYLA is the intimate Hong Kong-inspired room above Patois at 794 Dundas West: chefs Danvee Kwok and Kevin Shawcross, a speakeasy-scale dining room, and a rooftop patio the restaurant’s own site currently flags as open for the season. This is a neighbourhood roof, not a tower—about 18 outdoor seats when the patio is running, cinematic lighting, shared plates that read Hong Kong via Toronto. Reservations are the play; tables are held 15 minutes. Official hours: Wednesday–Thursday 6 p.m.–midnight; Friday–Saturday 6 p.m.–midnight; Sunday 5 p.m.–midnight; closed Monday–Tuesday. Phone 647-340-4999. Specific seats (bar vs table vs patio) are not guaranteed. Come for the cooking and the Dundas West altitude, not a CN Tower postcard.
