Tucked down a laneway off St. Clair Avenue West near Humewood Avenue, Arthur's Snackette is an ultra-compact takeout window dedicated to artisanal, slow-fermented sourdough bagels. The project is a collaboration between Montreal brunch icons Raegan Steinberg and Alex Cohen (Arthur’s Nosh Bar) and veteran sourdough baker Dara Gallinger (co-founder of Brodflour). There is no indoor seating—patrons gather in the alleyway and on the sidewalk, snagging milk crates while waiting for freshly toasted orders.

Arthur's Snackette Menu & What to Order The focused menu revolves around 100% naturally leavened bagels fermented for over 30 hours using Quebec flour, creating a glossy, crackly crust and an airy, gently sour crumb. The standout order is the Arthur's Everything bagel topped with rich smoked salmon from The Smoke Bloke, thick cream cheese, and a drizzle of lemon-infused olive oil. Vegetarian options shine with thick-cut heirloom tomatoes, cream cheese, and cracked pepper on sesame, rounded out by classic egg salad, drip coffee, and nostalgic bakery sprinkle cookies.

Know Before You Go The shop operates strictly on a walk-in basis on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 9:00 a.m. Daily production is capped at around 400 bagels, so expect queues and arrive early, as stock frequently sells out before early afternoon. The easiest way to get here is via the 512 St. Clair streetcar, entering the laneway from Humewood Drive.
