Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest

Running since 1969, Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest bills itself as the largest Bavarian festival in North America and the second-largest Oktoberfest in the world outside Munich, drawing an estimated 700,000-plus visitors across its multi-week run. Rather than one central festival ground, it plays out across a circuit of festhallens — the Concordia Club and Bingemans among the best known — plus a public Thanksgiving Day parade downtown, blending genuine German-Canadian heritage with the beer-hall spectacle it's best known for.

Book festhalle tickets ahead for the marquee venues — Concordia Club and Bingemans events sell out on peak weekend nights. If you're only going for one thing, the Thanksgiving Day Parade is the easiest free entry point.

GO Transit Kitchener line direct to Kitchener GO Station, roughly 1.5–2 hours from Union Station. Driving via Highway 401 takes about 1 hour 10 minutes.
