If you're looking for a more reflective way to spend Mother's Day, head to the Tranzac Club in the Annex for 'We, Otherwise.' This curated night of music and arts is part of a recurring Sunday series designed to foster deep connections between artists and audiences.
The Experience
This month’s edition features a special musical duo: Radhika Baskar and Lina Cao, who will blend the sounds of the guzheng and veena. The evening is structured to be deeply relational, unfolding in three distinct parts: a conversation about the artists' practice and lineage, a live musical exchange where they respond to one another in real-time, and a participatory artistic activation.
Why It’s Special
In honour of Mother's Day, DJ olasconola will be spinning an all-vinyl soundtrack of intentional songs focused on themes of care, nourishment, joy, and catharsis. The organizers—a collective of three culturally diverse women—have designed this series to be a cultural meeting point where difference is celebrated through curiosity and listening.
Getting There
The Tranzac Club is a staple of the Annex neighbourhood, located at 292 Brunswick Avenue. It’s an ideal spot to grab a drink before or after the show, and the intimate setting of the club makes it the perfect venue for this kind of thoughtful, community-driven programming. Whether you're a poetry enthusiast or just looking for a space to encounter new sounds and ideas, this event offers a refreshing alternative to the typical Sunday night out.
