Reimagining popular depictions of sex work, *Modern Whore* is a compelling hybrid documentary that brings the lived experiences of writer and performer Andrea Werhun to the screen. Based on her 2018 memoir and expanding on a 2020 short film, the feature follows Andrea as she navigates social stigma and reclaims her own story with a blend of humour, heartbreak, and surprise.
A Special Event
This screening is a must-see for those interested in the intersection of art, memoir, and social advocacy. On Friday, May 22, the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema will host a special post-screening discussion with director Nicole Bazuin, producer and subject Andrea Werhun, and producer Lauren Grant. It’s a rare chance to hear directly from the creative team behind this bold project.
