Measure for Measure

Tuesday, September 15, 2026 – Sunday, October 4, 2026
7:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Crow's Theatre — Studio Theatre
House + Body's acclaimed reimagining of Shakespeare's *Measure for Measure* returns to Crow's Theatre after its breakthrough limited run. Director and adapter Christopher Manousos moves the action into a chaotic modern sound studio, where five actors perform 20 roles while an increasingly messy off-air drama threatens the broadcast.
What to expect
The concept gives one of Shakespeare's most morally complicated plays a sharp contemporary engine. Isabella is trying to save her brother from a death sentence, but the authority figure with the power to help makes a coercive demand. The production treats the story's questions about justice, hypocrisy, and who gets to wield power seriously without losing its speed or dark comedy.
The venue
The show plays the Studio Theatre at Crow's, an intimate room in the company's east-end home at Dundas and Carlaw. The smaller scale suits a production built around live voices, sound cues, and actors switching characters in full view.
Crow's is a short walk south of Gerrard on Carlaw Avenue. The 506 Carlton streetcar is the simplest TTC route; allow extra time for dinner on Gerrard East or Queen East before the show.
