La Traviata

Friday, September 18, 2026 – Saturday, October 17, 2026
7:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts
The Canadian Opera Company opens its 2026/2027 mainstage season with a sweeping revival of Arin Arbus’s lush production of *La Traviata*. Verdi’s beloved masterpiece tells the heartbreaking story of Violetta, a celebrated Parisian courtesan who finds genuine, life-altering love with the earnest Alfredo, only to face impossible sacrifices dictated by societal hypocrisy.
Set against the glittering, debauched backdrop of 1850s Paris, this production captures both the high-society glamour and the gritty social realities of a shifting era. Operatic heavyweights light up the stage this season, with sopranos Kathryn Lewek and Lucia Cesaroni sharing the grueling, breathtaking role of Violetta, alongside tenor Luke Norvell and baritone Reginald Smith, Jr.
Located at Queen and University, the Four Seasons Centre offers world-class acoustics and stunning modern architecture, making opening night a premier cultural event in downtown Toronto.
