DROM Taberna
Vancouver-based keyboardist and producer Jonny Tobin creates music that lives in the sweet spot between vintage 1960s Blue Note jazz records and early 1990s video game soundtracks. Known for his lush synth textures, intricate chord voicings, and infectious groove sensibilities, the Grammy- and JUNO-nominated instrumentalist brings a captivating live set to the stage at DROM Taberna.
Jazz Meets Beat Culture
Tobin’s distinctive sound marries classic jazz improvisation with gospel chords, hip-hop rhythm sections, and playful funk basslines. Having shared stages and bills with contemporary jazz disruptors like saxophonist Braxton Cook and producer CARRTOONS, Tobin has carved out a loyal following across both the live instrumental and lo-fi beat communities. His Toronto stop comes as part of a tour supporting his live release *Live At The Shelf*, showcasing spontaneous keyboard solos and warm, infectious rhythm work.
The Room at DROM
There is arguably no better home for late-night instrumental improvisation than DROM Taberna on Queen Street West. The venue's intimate layout, rustic timber interior, and European-inspired tavern menu—featuring house-made pickles, hearty Eastern European bites, and craft beer—create an electric, community-driven atmosphere where musicians and audiences connect up close.
