Join the literary community at Queen Books in Leslieville for the launch of *New-Fangled Rose*, the latest poetry collection from award-winning author Sue Sinclair. This evening promises to be an intimate look at a work that explores the delicate balance of our relationship with the natural world during the 'slow emergency' of the climate crisis.
The Lineup
Sue Sinclair, whose previous work has garnered both the Pat Lowther Award and the Fiddlehead Poetry Book Prize, will be reading from her new collection. She’ll be joined by special guests Puneet Dutt and Phoebe Wang—both accomplished poets in their own right—with Jim Johnstone hosting the evening. It’s a fantastic opportunity to hear from some of the most compelling voices in contemporary Canadian poetry.
What to Expect
This is a free, public event, making it an accessible way to engage with local literature. Books will be available for purchase, so you can grab a signed copy and support the authors. The event is hosted at Queen Books, one of the city’s most beloved independent bookstores, located at 914 Queen St E.
Before and After
Leslieville is a fantastic neighbourhood to spend an evening in. Before the launch, grab a coffee or a light bite at one of the many cafes along Queen East. After the event, you’re just a short walk from some of the area’s best restaurants and pubs, making it easy to turn the book launch into a full night out. Whether you’re a long-time poetry fan or just looking to support local artists, this is a great way to spend a Thursday evening.
