Established in 1867, The Bishop Strachan School (BSS) is Canada's oldest independent day and boarding school for girls, located across from UCC on a 7.5-acre campus in Forest Hill. BSS educates approximately 920 girls from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12, fostering confident female leadership and global inquiry.
BSS is an authorized full-continuum International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the PYP, MYP, and IB Diploma Programme. The school is famed for its cutting-edge STEAM Centre (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) featuring robotics labs, bio-maker spaces, and fine arts studios. 100% of BSS graduates attend premier university programs across North America and Europe.
Admissions: Applications are accepted beginning in early autumn with a December 1 priority deadline. Entrance assessments and personal interviews are standard for Grades 7 and 9 entry. Financial Aid: BSS allocates over $2.5 million annually in financial assistance and merit scholarships. Annual day tuition for 2025–26 is approximately $39,800; boarding tuition is $74,000–$78,500.
