What is Voodoo Child? Anchoring College Street just east of Bathurst on the edge of Kensington Market, Voodoo Child is a classic neighbourhood chameleon that runs as a dedicated third-wave espresso spot by day before converting into a low-lit cocktail and wine haunt after sundown. Co-founded by Scotty Daté and David Rad, the narrow brick-and-wood space features a cozy street-facing window counter, intimate two-top tables, and a central back bar where baristas swap portafilters for cocktail shakers as dusk settles in.
Voodoo Child Menu & What to Order Daytime visits call for cortados, drip brews from rotating roasters, and stacked breakfast sandwiches finished with housemade hot sauce. Come evening, the bar's five-variation espresso martini roster takes centre stage, anchored by the Voodoo Style Espresso Martini blended with dark chocolate and a hint of miso. Round out your order with low-intervention and biodynamic wines by the glass, local craft cans, or market-sourced charcuterie and artisanal snacks.
Know Before You Go The venue operates strictly on walk-ins with no reservations, so grab a seat before 6:00 p.m. to catch the popular daily happy hour or expect to wait on weekend nights. Daytime laptop work is welcome but strictly cuts off at 5:00 p.m. when the lights dim and the music goes up. Arriving is straightforward via the 506 Carlton streetcar stopping right at College and Borden, with metered street parking along the strip.
