What is Viaggio? Perched along the western strip of Dundas Street West in Little Portugal, Viaggio is chef Jon Vettraino’s intimate neighborhood dining room delivering northern-skewing Italian cooking with an Ontario seasonal lens. The moodily lit room is outfitted with dark wood accents, leather banquettes, and a front bar counter, backed by a secluded summer garden patio. It functions effortlessly as a neighborhood standby while delivering the refined execution that earned it a Michelin Guide recommendation.
Viaggio Menu & What to Order House-extruded pastas take centre stage, notably the mafaldine tossed with fiery 'nduja and bone marrow sugo, and delicate ribbons of snow crab tagliatelle. Savory starters like the hand-cut steak tartare and seasonal stuffed casoncelli are reliably sharp, followed by mains such as crisp-skinned Venetian spiced duck breast. Finish without debate on the tiramisu pancakes—a cult dessert soaked in espresso syrup—paired with an amaro-forward Midnight in Palermo cocktail.
Know Before You Go Reservations book out well in advance on Tock with strict two-hour seatings, but walk-ins can often catch seats along the bar right at opening. Street parking on Dundas West is tight, so hop on the 505 Dundas streetcar and alight near Lansdowne Avenue. The restaurant serves dinner exclusively from Wednesday through Sunday, staying closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
