Tonia's Kitchen

What is Tonia's Kitchen? Located on Four Winds Drive just south of the York University campus, Tonia's Kitchen is an unpretentious counter-service outpost for home-style West African cooking. The space is straightforward and cozy, fitted with simple tables that cater to solo diners grabbing a quick bowl of swallow as well as local students picking up late-night takeout.

Tonia's Kitchen Menu & What to Order The kitchen specializes in rich, deeply seasoned Nigerian staples, anchored by a smoky Jollof Rice paired with golden fried chicken or turkey. For traditional soups, the Egusi Soup—thick with ground melon seeds, greens, and tender stewed meats—and the herbal, aromatic Oha Soup are standouts built for pairing with fufu. Small plates pack serious heat, particularly the fiery Asun (peppery chopped goat) and skewers of well-spiced Beef Suya.

Know Before You Go It is strictly walk-in friendly, with steady takeout and delivery traffic anchoring the operation during evening dinner hours. Surface parking is available within the complex, and Finch West subway station is only a short walk away. The kitchen stays open daily from 12:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., making it a prime destination for late-night cravings in the neighbourhood.
