Set along Charles Street East just east of Yonge, The Sanctuary is not a conventional commercial restaurant, but Sanctuary Ministries of Toronto—a vital community hub offering hospitality and social support to marginalized and unhoused neighbours. The interior is an unpretentious church space anchored by communal dining tables where guests gather over shared sustenance and mutual respect. Seating is entirely communal and accessible, designed around dignity, safety, and genuine human connection rather than turn times.

The Sanctuary Menu & What to Order Rather than an à la carte commercial menu, the kitchen prepares nourishing, scratch-made community meals built around wholesome comfort food. Offerings rotate based on volunteer kitchen teams and donated provisions, spanning hearty soups, slow-cooked stews, warm casseroles, seasonal vegetables, and fresh coffee or tea. Special feast spreads are mounted around major holidays to bring the community together around a festive table. The focus remains steadfastly on providing hot, balanced, and dignified sustenance to anyone walking through the door.

Know Before You Go All meal services operate strictly as walk-in drop-ins with no bookings or fees, with community lunch served Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and community dinner on Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Located steps from Bloor-Yonge subway station, the wheelchair-accessible facility also hosts allied health clinics, an arts drop-in, and scheduled donation drop-off windows throughout the week.
