Tucked along St. Clair Avenue West in Wychwood, The Onda is an intimate, nine-seat omakase counter run by brothers-in-law Yoongil Choi (an alum of Yasu and Okeya Kyujiro) and Sunil Woo, alongside their wives Yoonmi Choi and Jiyoung Kim. The sleek, blonde-wood room strips away high-end sushi pretension in favour of a warm, family-hosted counter experience. Guests sit side by side directly facing the chefs as they apply rigorous Japanese precision through a subtle Korean lens.

The Onda Menu & What to Order Dinner unfolds over a 20-course tasting that starts strong with dishes like akami yukhoe—lean tuna tartare accented with crisp Asian pear and Osetra caviar. From there, the kitchen rolls through cooked seasonal bites and a rhythmic progression of pristine nigiri brushed with house-seasoned soy, ending on a bright note with house-made yuzu pudding. Order the six-pour sake pairing to complement the fish, and keep in mind that the fixed omakase menu cannot accommodate vegetarian, vegan, or raw-fish dietary restrictions.

Know Before You Go Every counter seat requires advance booking online, with slots releasing in batches and zero accommodation for walk-ins. Arrive 15 minutes before your ticketed slot so the entire room can begin service in unison.
