The Cooperage Marketplace is a multi-tenant retail space housed inside one of the Distillery District’s oldest industrial buildings dating back to the 1860s. Originally used for manufacturing and repairing whisky barrels, the 4,305-square-foot historic structure has been thoughtfully refurbished to feature barrel-vaulted ceilings, exposed brick, and preserved historic vaults alongside modern glass storefronts. Located with dual entrances at 6 Trinity Street and 52 Gristmill Lane, the marketplace showcases seven independent, founder-operated Canadian businesses under one roof. The retail collective highlights local entrepreneurship within a prominent pedestrian-only heritage setting.

Visitors can expect to explore a curated mix of independent vendors offering Canadian apparel, accessories, stationery, artisan provisions, and specialty goods, including shops like the Toronto Pen Shoppe and Lilith's Garden. The interior layout is designed with connected hallways that allow for a seamless flow between the Trinity Street and Gristmill Lane exits. While browsing, guests will encounter architectural details such as original double-doored archways and the rooftop hexagonal wood-and-glass cupola used historically to vent distilling fumes. The marketplace is open daily alongside the surrounding district boutiques, offering an indoor shopping environment that blends industrial heritage with contemporary local retail.
